FAQ
Quick answers about lifecycle, edits, access, and common gotchas.
Can I change the format after creating a tournament?
Yes, as long as no results are recorded yet — rosters and placeholders move with you. Once results exist, the bracket shape is locked by them: record a different format from scratch and re-enter, or record results carefully with the cascade confirm dialog if you only need a structural fix.
What is the difference between draft, live, completed, and archived?
- Draft — only your workspace can see it. Registration can already collect.
- Live — published and public. This is the normal state during an event.
- Completed — a champion was crowned. The page stays online.
- Archived — a completed event frozen read-only, so post-event result disputes have no target. Reversible.
Deleting is different: a deleted tournament's page shows an explicit "cancelled" notice instead of vanishing, so players with the bookmark learn the event is off.
I recorded a wrong winner — what now?
If it was the last action, hit Undo. If later matches were already recorded, changing it will show a confirm dialog counting exactly how many downstream results will be cleared and need re-entry. The change (and its cascade) is logged in the audit trail.
Do byes need manual management?
No. Single elimination creates byes automatically from the seed list (top seeds skip round one when the count is not a power of two); Swiss rotates one bye per round and scores it as a win without opponent.
Who can record scores?
You and any collaborator with a Member role. Invited referees and scorekeepers can only record matches explicitly assigned to them. Every recording lands in the audit log with who and when.
Why does the public page say "bracket locked"?
Registration is collecting sign-ups. The bracket unlocks once you import approved entries (or fill the roster) and close registration — see Registration.
Do my guest (unsaved) brackets live forever?
They live in your browser's local storage — clearing site data or switching devices loses them. Saving to a free account recreates the bracket and its recorded results on Rollare's servers.
Does a Discord webhook leak my drafts?
It posts what you subscribed to, including on draft events — that is a feature ("your own private feed"), not a leak: the webhook URL is your server's, and you control the channel. See Discord notifications.
Which languages does Rollare support?
The site runs in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean — switch from the language menu in the header or your workspace. The documentation is English-first.
How do players know when they play?
Three layers: the schedule on the public page, calendar feeds (ICS per event and per match) they can subscribe to, and an automatic reminder email 60 minutes before their match. Rescheduled matches trigger a notification email.
What does the watermark look like on the free plan?
A small, unobtrusive mark on public pages and exported images. It never blocks features — all formats, unlimited tournaments, and every tool work on the free plan. Paid plans remove it; see Plans and billing.
